After watching the Switch presentation, are you blown away, impressed, indifferent, or disappointed with what Nintendo showed off? Do you plan to get the Switch on launch day?

  • I was impressed. If for no other reason, they finally have third party support again, and a number of the games they were showing off. For me to have been blown away, they would have needed to have announced something major I didn't see coming at all, which, besides Bethesda finally coming on board (which is awesome), they didn't.

  • I was impressed with what I saw. I was never expecting Nintendo to top Super Mario Galaxy with Odyssey. Also I never thought Xenoblade Chronicles Wii would ever get a sequel. A true sequel (possibily) because X was more of a spiritual successor.

  • As I watched the event, I watched some of the early parts of Mike from Cinemassacre's livestream. During the really gimmicky part for 1, 2, Switch and Arms (where I stopped), both him and the people in the comments were just trashing the event. The whole time I listened to him, I just kind of wanted to yell at him, and say, "you know they're building to the good stuff, right?"

  • While I can understand where they're coming from, cmon guys. It's just one game. You know they'll be showing off more compelling games later in the presentation. @Mike

  • Also, the reaction towards having to pay to play online is odd. I've seen some people treat it like it's something new and bizarre when it's not. It was inevitable that Nintendo would follow in Sony and Microsoft's footsteps.

  • With the online play thing, I must need to rewatch that section. I didn't hear them say online play would behind a pay wall. What I did hear, though, was certain online features would be behind a pay wall, but playing would be free. Also, with the original Wii, originally, online play was something you had to pay for (a $10 fee). It ended after like a year, but it's not new for Nintendo.

  • Just rewatched the part about online services. The way I heard him, it sounds like what you'll have to pay for, was the thing about playing on mobile devices. Maybe I'm misunderstanding it, but that's what sounded like to me.

  • Just got clarification, while watching something else, and I will say, yeah online multiplayer will be pay. I'm fine with that. Hopefully, this means they will get better servers, than the ones they currently have.

  • I've heard that there's a chance Miiverse goes away about the same time the online features for Switch become a pay service. I also guess it's already confirmed that the Switch won't have it. While I'm honestly sad this is most likely the end of Miiverse, I'm not shocked to hear it. Nintendo never intended it to be a social network, and it seems fairly clear they're not happy it's become one.

  • I will, if this is the end of Miiverse, I really am going to be sad when it's gone. I'm really going to miss all the wonderful artwork on here, all the people I've met, having conversations during different shows/events, and just sharing my thoughts, in general, on here. I might make it so my last post is my full name, and/or a number of my other usernames for things like PS4, Steam...

  • Facebook, Twitter, etc. so I can keep in touch with some of the people I've met here. I figure, at that point, who cares if I break the Code of Conduct? What's the point of a two week ban, if the site's just going to close the next day anyway? We'll see, though. That's, hopefully, months away.

  • Eh, I have a feeling Nintendo will replace Miiverse with something else. If they don't, it definitely will be a sad day when Miiverse is no more. I've seen some real dumb stuff on Miiverse, but the great people I've met here have made it so much better. Hopefully, we'll still be able to carry on any discussions we may have, on the Switch. @Mike
