Kappn had all the best advice. I bet he made all the mistakes himself as a young tadpole and he is helping us to not make those same mistakes.

Sounds like it ^^ btw have you heard? The Switch will have neither StreetPass nor Miiverse. Guess we'll have to enjoy our babbling sessions while they last. Pity, since I wanted to buy an Art Academy game today, but who knows how long Miiverse's going to stay before it's shut down. Looks like my go at online multiplayer was a short one, too, since I won't pay for that (not worth it in my case).

I had not heard this ;_; Let me do some research. I can't imagine they would cut out the social features. That is something Nintendo has wanted to do from the beginning. I like our babbling sessions ;_;

Lame. It sounds like it will at least be around as long as the 3DS is around. Nintendo has earlier said they will support the 3DS through 2018, so it should be around at least that long. They do consider the Switch to be a home console too. Although doubtful it is possible they will continue it with their next handheld in the future. Still ;_;

They'll use third party services. I'm not optimistic about it, since I'm not into social media in general. Miiverse's concept is different, which is why I actually like to use it. It has great functions, too. I understand them discontinuing it, even if I'm sad. It probably ate up lots of time and resources and its reputation isn't exactly good. ... I really hope it'll get a worthy successor.

If they drop the concept of a closed(!) Nintendo-themed community (a. k. a. merely link some big social media sites and call it a day), I might be out. Depending on support I might try it (there's only one site I have an account at and that one's on hiatus), but I don't think it'll catch on for me. It'll depend on whether it's game-centric (Miiverse) or blog-centric (everything else).

It's all mere speculation, so we'll have to wait and see. I'm definitely going to miss our get-togethers, when they shut down the servers. Paid online's a no-no for me (I've never played Nintendo games online, thanks to a lack of gaming pals... up until Mr "why not both?", that is. I'd be constantly paying for something I use once in a blue moon.)

LOL! I may have to change my name to Mr. Why Not Both! I really do feel like we have something unique in the Miiverse. We are all, for the most part, like minded Nintendo fans. Miiverse is actually my only social media account D: I only have a few IRL friends that play Nintendo. Most of them found Nintendo through me and none of them are passionate about it.

My hope is that perhaps they have some great new replacement they aren't mentioning yet. I do see where, from their perspective, the Miiverse is all cost and no benefit. I will probably do the paid, but I am already used to it with Xbox Live. Then again, I may not have anyone to play with sans Miiverse ;_;

There was an official statement regarding no Miiverse + major social media sites iirc. I only remember thinking "kthxbye", when I read it. I do hope that it'll have a similar structure to Miiverse. I love its concept... it's not blog-centric, but about games, which makes it so much easier to find like-minded people. And I honestly like its family-friendly approach, even if it can be restricting.

If I wanted to see people being toxic and throwing around vulgarities for nothing, I can use absolutely ANY other community. It really irks me. I'm sure you'd find someone to game with ^^ you're nice enough company and who knows what the 'verse's "successor" will be like. It'd be surprising to see them drop all caution (family-friendly/child protection) after being so strict with it these days.

Aw, thanks Chris ^_^ Man, when it eventually drops (which should be at least as far away as the end of 2018) we need to keep in touch! I've really enjoyed our banter and play sessions. Your sense of humor meshes well with mine, which I don't find all that often! Not to speak like it's all over. We've only been hanging out here for less than two months or so and this is two years away \o/

That's been on my mind, too. Looks like our meeting was destined to happen after all <3 but joking aside, I do feel the same. You know what? You're right. Considering what's ahead my Miiverse experience has hardly begun (given they don't pull the plug prematurely). I'll still ensure that I won't lose anything asap (I'm a cautious type), but this lifts my spirits.
