Vii vs Viii

Imma noob to this so i'm asking ye... dragon quest vii or viii? Vii has a bigger world so i'm leaning towards that but viii has a higher metascore. Plz tell me which is better!

    It depends what you prefer, really. VII is a more traditional Dragon Quest game, has vocation changes for characters, and is a lot more focused on smaller storylines throughout its world. It's also a lot longer than most other Dragon Quest games.

    VIII was the first 'modern' Dragon Quest game, so has a few newer mechanics. Characters have set classes and skills they can use, though there is still some customisation for them. The story is focused on one big plot, and there are a few sidequests like the Monster Arena and newly added photo mode in the remake.

    Both are very great games. Personally, I would recommend starting with VIII though, if you're new to the series. It's one of the easiest ones to get into, and the remake has added a lot of new content!

    Both games are pretty good, so you will not regret buying one instead the other one. Between 7 and 8, I think 8 is slightly better. However, I'd reccomend you to buy 7 first, because it is easier (unless the 3DS version of 8 is much easier than the PS2 version). Also, you say that the bigger world of DQ7 (which is true) is appealing for you, so it is the best option for you IMO.
