Question

Should I get this game?

I have Dragon Quest 7, and I'm like 14 hours in and not even near the job system yet :/ Wondering if I should beat 7 then get 8, or just play it simultaneously?

having said that , hopefully we don't have another WiiU on our hands. Switch is pricey in canada, paid enough for the WiiU.

I just started 8 and I'm trying to grind up a few levels before reaching the waterfall to get a Crystal Ball (I'm not far at all .-.)

Probably why i wish these DQ games would come to ps4. They would sell very well.

Probably go down, or have a price cut in the future, I remember (Not Nintendo, I know) me and my bro buying a PS3 with 80 gbs for $400 back in 2008, and getting a Wii U for about $350 or $400 when it came out. Now they're cheaper than ever nowadays!

I haven't tried Dragon Quest Heroes or Builders, but I know Heroes 2 is getting a Western release.

@Zespair Dragon Quest VIII didn't sell very well on the PS2 though. It was reduced to $20 on amazon only a month after it came out. It deserved a better reception than that on the PlayStation--it's such a great game.

I wonder if 8 will do better on 3DS, only bummer about it is the orchestrated music was turned into Midi overseas

I heard something interesting (don't know if it's true) but I heard the orchestrated music in DQ8 was only in the US game on PS2.

Orchestrated music was in US PS2 and in Japan 3DS systems, just now we don't really get orchestrated music nowadays due to a licensing issue ( I also don't know the details)

I find that hard to believe cuz DQ8 was loved by many here in the west and even considered the best. Pretty much revolutionized the seeries onward. Even if it didn't sell as expected, many still bought the game for the FFXII demo alone at the time.

I really enjoyed what i've played of 8 years ago. It rivaled my love for Chrono trigger.

And i'm not too worried about referring to other consoles, i was primarily a nintendo only gamer. i had a ps1 at one point, but didn't get into Sony stuff till ps3.

i regret to admit DQ8 was my first DQ game. I never played any outside of DQ monsters for GB.

i did play DQ heroes on ps4. was a fun dynasty warriors clone.

I also have to admit the first Dragon Warrior game I played was the Old Dragon Warrior game on NES i bought at a store, and wasn't interested in the game until a few years later, but I really wanted to play 8 more than ever.

I'm a Akira Toriyama fan, Dragonball, dragonball Z, GT, Chrono Trigger and DQ are all eye candy for me.

FYI:FFIX is my favorite FF game, and the best version of chrono trigger besides the snes version, is the DS version. Get it while you can.
