Wow awesome list i think the only thing u didn't take in to acount was the last skills Courage [hero] humanity [yangus] etc. as while most of the skills are kinda useless can be a great help if u build your charcter right like swords and courage for hero can be an awesome combo.

I know but I was more concerned with weapons not the personal or fisticuff skills

I always choose Swords for the hero because he looks a bit silly carrying anything else. Spear and Boomerangs might actually be more useful though. I've done Scythes with Yangus before because Steal Sickle but it very rarely yields results. Axe has some good skills but the Conqueror's Axe is his weakest final weapon and those execution skills aren't the greatest either.

I use magic so much with Jessica that I also pair her with staves and $εχ appeal. Whips can be useful too though--they steal hp for her and paralyse enemies. But her best whip costs 200,000 tokens at the casino! I'd rather not go with whips. Since I'm not giving Angelo the Metal King Sword I'd give him bows--but just like Jessica I only cast spells with him late in the game so staves are best.

I haven't got Morrie or Red yet so I don't know--but I won't pair them with any weapons that anyone else is already using. I'll be sure to max out both of their unique skill sets whatever I choose.

*Oops--I posted 'Metal King Sword' it's actually called the Liquid Metal Sword.

Sure you can do that but do you really think having 2 staff weilders in the is a good idea? Angelo doesn't have alot of offensive spells which means he would have no physical weapon to rely on and does a good enough job healing without staffs already and can do a pretty good support job without added or regerative mana

Since you can make and buy the best staves in the game there's no problem having two staff wielders. Even without a bow Angelo has Thwack and Kaswoosh which take out weak mobs. Against bosses he's healing full time. Like Jessica, I just get more milage out of him as a spell caster.

Lol honestly in the long run it doesn't matter how u build your characters, its the reason why all these skill trees exist! To build them the way u want! XD. EVERY skill tree can be useful if managed right and paired up with certain weps and play styles. As long as your characters are lvled up regularly and all have decent equipment as well as decent skills, you'll make it through the game just-

-fine. I don't just focus on 1 play style, i like being balanced and having more variety and can still get the job done. Its boring only focusing on 1 play style all the time, these characters have other specialty's too.

Its good to focus on what helps u be more efficient, but there's truly no right or wrong way to build ur characters or else these skill trees wouldn't exist.

It's true no matter what you pick you could manage to get the job done, but certain skill paths are just more useful than others. Jessica's Knife skills for example, she learns a bunch of poison and instant kill moves which aren't helpful against bosses or large crowds. You'll just end up casting spells with her.

Ya but it doesn't mean they aren't useful just not as useful as her spells. Plus certain skills aren't meant to be used in certain ways. Those assassin skills of hers are great against metallic slime monsters for racking up on huge exp. And adding poison to enemies while casting spells adds additional damage. It all comes down to strategic use. Everything can be useful even if other abilities are-

I forgot that in the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII your HP/MP refills when you level up--meaning it won't be as important to have loads of MP stored up for Jessica and Angelo when you're stuck in a dungeon. So giving them something other than staves in this version might be best. (I really don't want to save up 200,000 casino tokens for that whip tho.)

Ya. I wasn't saying your opinions were bad or anything cause i get where you're coming from. But was just putting it out there that there are some usefulness with her other skill trees depending on the situation.

No doubt but I found it more manageable if I was to go down a particular path, it may just be my preference but I've tried other weapons for each of the characters and they seem to make fights a Lil bit more trouble. So my path of choice is always swords, axes, bows and staffs

The way i see it. Since you're gonna eventually try and max out everybody skill trees, especially at post game or if you're a completionist, i see no harm in branching out and having added variety. Especially since metal slime monsters are so much more easier to track down and hunt on the 3ds version that lvling up is a joke now and far less tedious so skill points will come rolling in lot faster.

If u lvl grind a lot and stay equipped with good gear regularly enough, that alone will make battles go by a lot smoother. Plus just lvling up earns u some useful abilities as well. But to each their own. Everybody has their preference at the end of the day.
