You probably have the answer to my question! Do splatoon amiibo's work on this game?

Yes, they do. The inkling ones are pretty cool looking. I don't know the complete compatibility list, but I know that none of the Animal Crossing amiibo (or anything newer - Daisy, Boo, etc.) have designs.
