Done with this game!!! Andross is impossible to beat with this awful control scheme. A potentially great game ruined by trying to force a certain control scheme on the player. Why oh why didn't Nintendo make the controls optional along with a more traditional control set up.

I do only play this in short bursts, so the only way is to go back to the drawing board and really put some real practice in to try and nail the controls.I like the game, action, and graphics....Grrrrr so nearly the perfect Star Fox game. What is it with the series that something always holds back the games

I personally feel like Star Fox is that serie used to test new mechanics of the gaming industry. Almost each Star Fox game introduced something new to the industry. SNES: complete 3D rendered game with the SuperFX chip. N64: rumbling controllers and if I am correct, the first game to have complete voice acting. WiiU: immersive high-quality motion controls. A first in the industry, to me. There...

was already motion controls before, but nothing as intuitive than Star Fox: Zero. For me, it's a big achievement.

It holds back because it seems they rather use the series as a tester for their other series than really work out the potential of its characters, story, characters' depth, universe, etc,... Star Fox Zero gives me hope for the future. But if Nintendo really could put effort into the Star Fox series, it could create the next top game series. It's a revolutionary series. I have hopes.

That's what I feel is lacking a bit in the games: the effort, the soul somehow. Every ingredients to make it beyond amazing... to only get almost the same game only modified. Star Fox deserves better. Zero is already a good step forward, but it lacks something. It's that "feel"...

I stopped on Andross too. I got all the way to the final fight, then got so frustrated that I gave up permanently.

Yeah what really annoys me mostly is that there is a really good game in there. Nintendo usually give control options on their games, like how you can use traditional controls or motion in Mario Kart 8. That's what this game needed, I would have played using traditional controls and experimented with motion controls as an added feature.

I shall not be beaten sertes. The controls seemed all the more unbearable probably because I played it after a long shift at work. Gonna try it at the weekend when I'm fresher.

It takes a lot of practice to master a star fox game in-general. I think that's what they were going for with motion controls, because it is in-line with the ideas the series is known for. However, Zero assumes that older fans know how to play past games properly (then expanding off those concepts.) also built for a new generation with no preconceived notions.

I think that's a huge disconnect in-general, just knowing how the game proceeds forward. There's to many games in the series that take away ideas, or don't fully understand "why" things occur in a star fox game. I saw this coming with zero as I was practicing 64 before release. even with normal controls from 64, it's still not sinking in for the majority.

I hope they can build an identity that everyone can grasp in the future. It would take making more games to build it up, and to clean up the confusion over the years. It's a rocky road, but I'm glad they took it from the top and grabbed ideas that were specifically star fox.

I'm not implying the controls are meant to be frustrating btw. I am claiming they were hoping the ideas of star fox would still be realized. In that context I can see why they chose this scheme, because it is far greater than past games. Yet, it's no good if everyone isn't in the flow.

Very well put fox. Hopefully we see more Star Fox, because I blooming love the franchise despite it's flaws. If they can implement a solid control scheme with the joy cons and add atmosphere with the HD rumble, we could well see Star Fox back to form. Zero is a very good game and motion controls are most welcome, only if they give the player the choice wether to use them or not.

I'm going to say it couldn't be ported to the switch. Just because the control scheme is needed to play the game to it's maximum enjoyment. Even if people aren't enthusiastic about honing your craft and becoming the "pilot". The end game really needs that 2nd screen. On top of that, some levels require the view. Time to push on lol.

An utter stinker of a boss he's either a cake walk or an impossible task, completely random and zero (pun intended) skill involved. I feel your pain Clint, the controls don't help but poor design is the biggest problem in my opinion.

FoxMcCloud, I have hope of Ninty supporting a "Wii U mode" I think they're keeping certain features quiet to avoid confusing folk, as they did with the Wii U. For example why did they bother adding a touchscreen if it won't be used?
