Prologue-Dodie I'm old now, and I have lived in this hollow near the creak all my life. When I was a girl this land was clear and open. I could watch the northern lights overhead, rippling and snaking through the night sky. Now mother earth is taking this place back to herself, one tree, one bush, one vine at a time. One day she will come for me too, and I will go easily enough.
