Need Help with the Switch

The controls are very fluent when playing using the pad, but when I switch the joycons to the controller the controls become horrible and I have to take the joy cons out constantly to make the controls fluent again, can someone please tell me what's wrong?

    I think the reader on the side of the controller, where you insert the joycons may be damaged or dirty. You can try to clean it or get it fixed, or replace it. Other than that, idk why.
