  • I believe it's the battery. I had the same issue with my 3DS and had to replace it

  • Yep. Unless you want to try and reset its control circuit, (which if you don't know what you are doing will lead to a facefull of lithium, [it dissolves almost everything] a broken ds, and a trip to the emergency room) you'll need a new one.

  • Oh well....could it be from charging it too much? Cuz I always have it in the charger. I only had this for almost 2 years & its already messed up. Oh well, thanks for the help, Alex.

  • No,I'm good. I never went to the emergency room be4 & I don't to start going now,but thanks. So I'll have to buy a new battery or a new ds?

  • It could be almost anything from a bad battery to a bad charging method to charging at the wrong time. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it happens again, then you have a real bad problem.

  • Okay...wait how would you know if your charging it at the wrong time?

  • It's not even possible to know with all the one-company-only batteries out there. Basically you confuse the circuit controlling the battery and it either locks it to a specific power level or slowly decreases the maximum power stored- this also degrades over time, albeit extremely slowly.
