does the tier list even matter?

tier list make no sense cloud is top tier but he is so simple to play you push b push b push b roll roll charge up youre anime power rinse and repeat ganondorf is bottom tier i know hes a clone of captain falcon but he has alot of potential sure you can spam side b but you could play differently you could play him with skill i main king dedede,bowser,wario and ganon

    ...Okay, one: It can be, it's helpful for legitimate smash tournaments to help people decide who would heighten their chances of winning. Two: I don't know what Tier website you've been on, but Cloud is NOT top. It's always been Fox in S, then the number one A is Falco (except in 64, It was either Pikachu or Kirby, I don't remember).

    (@Dan falco's not A teir in sm4sh he's in G teir i think) teirs are just a guide based on results and overall consistency. just cause a character is a low teir doesn't mean they aren't necessarily bad

    no but still i think tier list are usless any character can be viable its about how you play that character

    @Chris a tier list is only a guide as to which characters have had the most success in competitive scene. Any character can do well, it's just that a character like cloud or rosalina & luma are able to do what characters like Jigglypuff struggle to do both quicker and with more ease due to better attack speed or combo's as well as damage.
