The Legend of Zelda: BoTW

I've played a lot of Zelda games and they've always had amazing soundtracks, but does BoTW even have any good music?(I don't have BoTW, because I am rather wanting to wait to get it for the Nintendo Switch)

  • True, after all the game is quite different from other recent Zelda games. I hope there's some soundtracks that are pretty good, I don't expect every song to be good though.

  • It doesn't really have any music. The village themes give off a very atmospheric and mellow tone. The only original sound track I thought stuck out was the hateno village theme.

  • Ah, shouldn't be too bad. I've played Ratchet and Clank Future series of games and they never had any music you'd really like but its just 'there'.

There's some tracks that'll really stand out while some will be a bit more subtle. When the music's there, it's really good.

The music is used sparingly for sure, but what is there is implemented very well. It's definitely not as melodic, you won't catch yourself whistling along to most of it, but you'll start to recognize pieces after a while and they'll grow on you. If anything, it's closer to Animal Crossing music (same composer, so that isn't surprising)

  • Some specific areas have specific themes, without spoiling anything. But for the most part when you're out and about, it's mainly a bunch of ambience.

  • There's quite a bit of music in it. The "Family Games" YT channel has pretty much all of it. https://youtu.be/3qj0v481g4M On the channel, just search for music in the channel's search bar.

  • There's plenty of music. New arrangements of classics too. I think it was the right call to be more sparing and atmospheric in the open world. If the classic overworld theme was constantly playing it would be exhausting. Save the bombastic tracks for the big moments so they retain their power.

  • The soundtrack is refreshing and has some unique turns. Some of it I felt was kinda strange, but some tracks really pull you into where you're at. Hyrule Castle is a perfect example, and the music during the hotter parts of Death Mountain had me grinning, as an old fan.

  • Most music happens during cutscenes, certain areas, battles, and events (riding, dying, etc.). Alot of it is good, but none stick out or are amazing like the other games do.

  • Music in Hyrule Castle is good & there are other highlights, but overall I'd say it is not on par with the best Zelda soundtracks. It definitely was trying to do something more atmospheric than grand and adventurous. It works for the game, but ultimately is not as memorable and there aren't many tracks I'd want to listen to outside of playing the game. There are some notable exceptions, though.

  • I love the boss fight music and the village music. The song in the shrines is just a repetitive jingle that never gets annoying. Are you planning to get the game?

  • I'm planning on getting the Nintendo Switch and also Breath of the Wild, I just need to wait till they restock it all. I might just wait till there's a bundle. The other games I'm interested in getting are MK8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, and Yooka Laylee. I might wait on Yooka Laylee though because I would prefer getting it on PS4 since it'll probably look better cause I'm a graphic nerd. :^(

  • I think that the hyrule castle music is a orchestral version of the first zelda overworld theme. r-right...?
