Anyway to get my St.Bernard to stop biting my hands?

Whenever, she decides to "play", she bites and she does it roughly. Whenever I try punishing her, she just cries outside the door until I let her back in. She's almost 2, anyway to train her out of this?

  • just throw a fridge at her, and if that doesn't work turn it off, get the catridge out, blow in it, put it back in, and turn it on again

  • What she's doing is called mouthing. Dogs often do it when they play with each other. To get her to stop, the next time she puts her mouth on your hands say ouch. Even if it doesn't hurt still say it, and turn your back to her. Once she's calmed down try to play with her again. If she uses her mouth again, say ouch and turn away.

  • Repeat this process as many times as needed. Eventually she'll learn that if she continues to use her mouth during play, then you won't play with her.

  • Thanks! I will try that. Hopefully this works.
