Geru are lizard-like warriors who appeared in Hyrule all of a sudden. They fight primarily using maces and defend themselves with a shield. They can be commonly found in forests and graveyards. They do not appear in the Palaces, so it is likely that they are followers of Ganon.

  • What game are they from?

  • Oh, I never played that game

  • Wait, wait... Is there any kind of connection between 'Geru' and "Gerudo"? I've always wondered what, if anything, the different names of the races meant; what with "Hylian" being derived from the name of the Goddess Hylia.

  • I couldn't find anything Lotus.

  • Sounds like another Nintendo-naming mystery to ponder until a book comes out, or it gets revealed in a future game... *Goes to look up if Geru means anything anyway*

  • This is all i could find,it's interesting nonetheless. Geldman's name is similar to that of the Geldarm, another desert-faring creature. In Japanese, "Geld" is written and read the same as "Gerudo", suggesting a connection between the sand monsters Geldarm and Geldman, and the desert or beach-dwelling Gerudo race featured in later games. This connection is lost in translation.

  • Very cool, 'Dorf! I did some research of my own and found this: "The names of the Gerudo and Gerudo Desert were likely chosen based on the enemies introduced in 'The Adventure of Link' and 'A Link to the Past', the sand-dwelling Geldarm and Geldman. One page in 'Hyrule Historia', showing the Gerudo Typography, implies that Nintendo originally intended for the Gerudo to be translated as Geldo...

  • [Cont.]... Gerudo is similar to the name Gerardo, which comes from Gerard, meaning 'courageous' and 'spear'.
