    Well,that a hard one to narrow down. Grow up a 90‛kid grunge exc,but quickly fell in love with the stuff my mom/dad loved specialy dad's,black sabbith,ac/dc,bowie,exc. Now-a-day's i mostly like swish/garmen,meatl. like ghost bc,dark stars.that sort'u thing. And yes i was a marilyn manson nut for like 15-18 years but you know whatever.

    He held a songwriting contest on his website in the late 90's while he was planning his '...hours' album. I felt I'd absorbed enough of his music to pen a song in the Bowie mold, so I took a day or two and submitted my entry. I expected nothing. I was just a kid having some fun....

    Well, imagine my surprise when I received a response directly from the man himself! He said the lyrics were a perfect match for the themes he was exploring on the album. He and I traded several emails and became quite chummy. I got the feeling he needed someone to talk to, which was nice but a bit sad....

    The winner was selected by the fan community, not by Bowie, and I didn't win. However, an associate of Bowie later informed me that he recorded my version in addition to the one that made the album. It has yet to be released but could in the near future, what with so much interest in Bowie's back catalogue. So, yeah, little old me wrote a song that the man himself recorded.

    I was too. I kinda forgot who I was talking to after awhile; he and I must have sent 20 emails back and forth over the course of a week. He enjoyed cartoons, which is something I don't think he shared in interviews! Ha!

    Yeah, I often hesitate to share that story, because I wonder if folks believe me. Strange as it sounds, it is true. Bowie went through a phase in the late 90's when he was uncharacteristically chatty with fans. He returned to being a bit of a recluse in his later years.
