The most important gaming platforms in 2017...

...is a real interesting diagram indeed. Windows/macOS development earns 58%, followed by smart devices with 38%. Then there's the PS4, after that we get VR headsets followed by the XB1. After that we get web browsers (webgl and the likes) and then GNU/Linux with 7%. Nintendo Switch is last with just 3%, before that there's AppleTV and AR.

  • I think it depends who you ask. This looks like there were asked a lot of indie developers.

  • Well I can see the (Windows) PC is getting more love again these days as especially Japanese devs jumped onto the train with the start of the current console generation. The indie scene is one that basically goes for every system out there but I'm actually shocked that even web browsers are said to see more support than the Switch. As a Linux user, I'm quite happy tho for Square's support.
