I know i'm sometimes very hard on Nintendo's competitors A.k.a. Sony/Microsoft, but try and understand why i do it! I really want Nintendo 2 be taken more seriously and get the respect they deserve! No console is perfect, and every once in a while i take pleasure in pointing out PS4/XB1 flaws and reasons why i think Nintendo is better! I do it because i love Nintendo and want them 2 succeed!

  • You're funny George. The cheapest Surface Pro 4 is $800 and that configuration isn't great for gaming. You also have a bad habit of using exclamation points.

    Yeahs1
  • @Dr.1UP - Nintendo will prevent the Switch from going mainstream as they won't open it up enough for third party & indie developers to have enough say in the device unlike what Apple & Microsoft does! @Lex - Who says the Surface has to be the Pro version? If they were to make one for gaming, I am sure they would make a smaller version anyways with less memory & less built in internal storage!

    Yeahs1
  • @Lex - Microsoft has all the gaming basics down with the Surface, including Windows & a stylus even & can do drawing/writing etc.. which the Switch doesn't even currently do! If Microsoft wanted to get into the handheld tablet gaming they could certainly do it with a new rebranded XBOX Surface but I doubt they would because that is not where their core audience would be or would want!

    Yeahs1
  • @Lex - You really have to nitpick my posts that much that you focus on my use of exclamation points? Yeah, I use a lot in posts like these as it is suited! I AM after all trying to make a point & not talking normally! :-)

    Yeahs1
  • @Dr.1UP - There are much better graphics chips out there besides the TEGRA X1, heck NVIDIA already has the TEGRA X2 but when Nintendo starts with a new vendor they always start with the least able chips to keep costs down & still provide a future upgrade path! That is to their own fault though!

    Yeahs1
  • @ GeorgeNLCA Yr on point...check this out. I contend that the 3DS is a full fledged console! Portable & handheld yes...but still a console. Lets break it down...it has full games not app sized games. Online capable plus storage space and its in 3D. Portable does not make it less than its big bro counterpart. Sony/Micro doesn't want to go there. 3DS sold more than the comp. Due to better games.

  • It'll be more of a must have when it has some unique exclusives, been pretty underwhelmed with the selection so far tbh and seeing as the two biggest first party games now in BotW and MK8 Deluxe are WiiU games I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the likes of Mario Odyssey. Xenoblade 2 too even though I'm not a massive fan of the series.

    Yeahs1
  • @David, Xenoblade is awesome!!

    Yeahs0
  • Didn't get on with the original Chronicles, in fact really struggled to see why people hold it in such high regard. Perfectly fine but there's far better RPG's out there imo. Will keep an eye on the new one though as it's a different set of characters and art direction. Might interest me more.

    Yeahs0
  • @David, dude, you gotta play the original Xenoblade Chronicles, the story is really cool dude!

    Yeahs0
  • I have, like I said didn't find the story particularly special and hated a few of the characters. Wasn't the biggest fan of the combat system either, felt very MMO-like to me. Curious to see if the new one improves on it. Not like I'm desperate though, plenty of RPG's on the PS4. Would be good to see more of that sort of thing on Switch too.

    Yeahs1
  • @David, what about the game Fate/Extella? Do you think that game will be any good?

    Yeahs0
  • Not sure about that one, can't say I'm familiar with the series. Believe it's out on Vita so I'm sure there'll be some reviews. I'm considering getting I Am Setsuna on Switch at some point and hoping the Mana collection comes over here. Keeping an eye on that Project Octopath Traveller as well.

Since the 3DS will be retired soon, I hope the development of quirky games and rpgs on the 3DS continues with the Switch.

    Yeahs1
  • @Digi Dash - In a way the 3DS can be considered a console but just an older console. That is why they are going back to games from the N64 to remaster in 3D but nothing since! Heck the DS could handle PS 1 games & Microsoft even had a version of Halo running on it from the original XBOX but they couldn't work out a licensing deal with Nintendo! So the 3DS is compareable to consoles in the N64 era!

    Yeahs0
  • @Digi Dash - Consoles are normally defined as being able to be connected to a TV (the 3DS can't), having more ram, cpu power, graphical power, storage space & having more accessories and/or expansions than handhelds at the time! You can't use extra/wired/wireless controllers etc. with the 3DS. That's why the Switch is considered a console/handheld hybrid as it can do some of both categories!

    Yeahs0
  • @Digi Dash - The 3DS didn't sell more then Sony's & Microsoft's consoles because it had better games, it sold more because it was a handheld, was cheaper, because of the 3D & AR effects IN the games, had touchscreen abilities that you couldn't get anywhere else, it had a built in camera, mic, could take pictures, watch videos & movies, listen to music, had internet, play games & draw on the go!

    Yeahs0
  • @Digi Dash - So in that regards the 3DS was closer to smart devices & offered unique experiences that you couldn't get elsewhere in such a cheap package! That is why the Switch is catching on because of the quality of the graphics on a "handheld" & offering unique play experiences with the tablet's different modes plus can be docked to a TV like a console & the unique options in the Joy-Cons!

    Yeahs0
  • @Digi Dash - With the 3DS or handhelds in general get away with seemingly having console like graphics when in fact they don't! They do looks wise but to save CPU power & amount of RAM needed, the graphics for the games are reduced greatly resolution wise compared to their original versions or even the originals on these handhelds, the graphics are in a lower resolution compared to consoles!

    Yeahs0
  • @Digi Dash - Again, the Switch in this case is unique as it can also provide console like resolutions in the games as well where it is a console/handheld hybrid! @Lex - The 3DS won't be discontinued anytime soon! It definately has another year or two left in it's lifecycle but yes those games you want will continue on the Switch!
