    No, Mother 3 has been a thing for 11 years. The Earthbound/Mother fanbase is devoted, but not obnoxious about it.

    Yeah Mother 3 came out 11 years ago in japan. It has yet to see a US release. No its fanbase is not bad like Undertale.

    Let me educate you :). Mother 3 is the 3rd game in the Earthbound/Mother franchuse and is currently the only game of the 3 to not get an official release out of Japan. The protagonist is Lucas which you may know from super smash brothers, Anyway, the game is amazing and emotional and I would highly highly recommend it. Fun fact today is Mother 3s 11th Birthday!

    It's surreal. Mother 3 is much darker than Earthbound Beginnings and Earthbound.

    Not at all but it has its mature moments if you read into some boss battles, enemys, and etc. Ps I am a really big Mother/Earthbound fan so feel free to ask me questions

    If I had to choose, Play Earthbound first, gets you into the series and a little good for beginners, might need a guide at times, then mother 3 (if you can get it), does EB 10x better and is extremely dark, then (optional) EB beggings, definitely not for beginners, the hardest part is the final area because it was never play tested.

    For me i started with eb beginnings and despite being really hard, i really think it made Earthbound a lot more fun :)

    Also, another reason I want you to play EB before mother 3 is that, not to spoil anything, but an "Earthbound Thing" appears in mother 3 that you won't know until you play EB.
