New 2DS XL confuses me. Wasn't one of the main points for New 3DS the fact that 3D followed you?

    The New 3DS has built in amiibo functionality, better processor allowing for a handful of games that wouldn't have been released on the 3DS otherwise(mostly SNES ports), an analog nub on the right side of the system, and some general design changes including dropping standard SD Cards for MicroSD. As far as I'm concerned, all of these features will be in the New 2DS Xl.

    Ask yourself how often do you actually use the 3D slider gimmick thingy? Just curious, I barely use it so it seems reasonable for the 2DS to have gotten rid of it, and now they're making it better by actually letting it fold again

    yeah having it foldable is great. tbf the weirdst thing is no doubt timing, releasing a new 3DS revision could canibablise a bit of switch's market

    Not really. The Switch is highly successful right now, and many people(over 60 million) already own a 3DS so I can't see why someone who is considering getting a Switch would suddenly change their mind over a 3DS revision, especially if they already own one. Maybe if they want to replace their old 3DS, or just as something to hold off until they can justify themselves buying a Switch.
