How do I upgrade the 3DS Memory card?

Does the little white card stay as it is and you just buy a larger card and insert it into the game slot and transfer data to make room?

  • The little white card is embedded under the lower screen. It's about a half inch by three quarter inch. You must be putting games on store-bought cards which are larger. Am I correct, or can you provide more detail?

  • White card? That's interesting. No, since I have the oldest model of 3ds, the SD card slot is on the side near the volume. (Normal, not Micro SD) Try searching up SD card destinations on Nintendo platforms. Sorry I'm also a little confused myself xD. It's better to buy store bought games just incase you lose memory on your SDcard in my opinion. Since games require updates and stuff, downloading-

  • Apologies for any confusion. I suppose the better question is what do YOU put on the store-bought cards that makes room on your DS?

  • Oh that's easy! The games that can't be bought in stores. I tend to share it with my DSi so it may sound boring but that turns into mostly just drawings, some animations, and I also put music there too just incase I want to listen to music on my DS and fiddle with it. And game snapshots that I might use for drawing inspiration.

  • I see. I'm trying to understand how to determine which games can be put on store-bought cards. I have several downloaded to my 3DS XL and don't know how to proceed when there is no more space.

  • Oh boy, I've only got one more post left. Don't worry, it doesn't matter because aslong as you've got your Nintendo ID thingy ma doodle (forget what it's called right now) on the e-shop you can redownload the games you had except Nintendo is stingy, so data can't be copied over which is the sad part.

  • Don't worry, you didn't use up all my posts, what probably did it was a little rant I did earlier :p No problem, any time!
