    It's both a compliment and an insult, depending on which way you interpret it. He's actually caring about others, he just has a harder time expressing it correctly.

    And I realize that. Most of the main char's interactions with Ford are super cute, since he tries so hard despite being socially inept... But this particular dialogue rubs me the wrong way. I doesn't help that he says it at every beginner class competition. :/ I guess I was wondering if anyone else noticed it and felt the same.
