Just to be clear up front: I am definitely finishing the current storyline, but … Well, once I do, I'm thinking of stopping Today's Client, at least temporarily. It's been clear that I've been having a hard time summoning motivation to work, and I think switching to a new project (on Miiverse or elsewhere) might be a good way to get it back. Plus, the wedding seems like a natural stopping point.

  • It's been over a year-and-a-half, and I don't regret the time spent at all. And I am endlessly grateful to all my readers. Still, exploring a new setting and group of characters could do some good. Even if there are still a lot of characters and potential storylines left to explore here … Well, what do you guys think?

  • If I don't bring it to an end, well … there's a lot of stuff with Lottie's family I'd love to explore. I really regret having done nothing with Erik after his introduction.

  • There are several ways to look at this: the game running low on replay value, a desire to work with other settings, the pain of sequelitis, feeling like you've told the stories worth telling... All of them are fine reasons to move on to a new canvas. It's too bad the latest Pokémon games don't allow for screenshots. (In addition, Victini made a surprise decision to "retire" a few days ago...)

  • Heh, he was probably just tried of lo… erm, letting you guys win all the time. There's definitely value in a change of pace: Your Hyrule Warriors stories are proof enough of that. And starting from zero is a great excuse to do some worldbuilding. Still, I have no idea yet what I'd work on next. I draw much too slowly to start a webcomic …

  • To me, it'd be a shame to see all these characters you've built say farewell (at least for a time) after getting to know them, you've definitely made me really enjoy every last bit of the world you've made. I say go for it to help build your motivation again. Just be sure to keep us in touch, especially if the project is outside Miiverse (may be though but I'm sure you'd fine a way!)

  • Post-DLC Hyrule Warriors was not my usual approach, but the idea came about the same way: overthinking what had changed since the last time I'd played the game. Even then, it was mostly silly vignettes with characters like Linkle before I realized I had enough ideas with Skull Kid to turn it into a storyline. Kinda like how many clients you helped here before the story arcs truly took form.

  • Maybe that approach can be used again. I don't know about webcomics, but for Miiverse, it may help to return to the basics until larger ideas start to form. Don't go for the next big thing until you know what it should look like. It can work as worldbuilding, too. I don't remember you doing a lot of storyline in the old Shuffle days, and I didn't even try it much until a few months after Darkrai.

  • It's fine and understandable to make a pause. You made a lot of great fun stories in this meanwhile, it's impressive that you managed to make so many while remaining creative. I'm sure you'll return inspired with even more fun stories later.

  • I'll be upset to see TC go if it does, but change is a big part of growth, isn't it? Eventually, things have to end, and the wedding seems like a fine point to at least take a long hiatus... and hey, Graig might finally become a peaceful town! ...Who am I kidding, that'll never happen.

    Yeahs5
  • Better to end with a wedding than a funeral, that's for sure.;-) It does feel like a natural resting place. We'll try to feel grateful and not greedy. But do keep creating and sharing, and maybe give us a hint how to find it if you feel like it, because you know we are your enthusiastic fans. (P.S. Did you find a good writers' group?)

    Yeahs5
  • Late to the party, but I can understand your decision. Sometimes you gotta take some time off to get some inspiration. Whether you do transition to a new series or keep going with TC, I'll actually be fine with either way. [...]

    Yeahs4
  • It's true that I really like your TC stories, but I actually really love your writing (you have no idea how many times I've said how you made really nice choice of words), & I really look forward to seeing what else you have in store. So take the time off if you need to. I'm sure the motivation will strike soon, & it'll be just what you need

While seeing the possibility of this series ending is really sad to me, I am glad that you are doing what you need to do to feel better, and you can bet that I'll be following any of your future projects going forward. You are a very gifted writer, and thank you so much for providing us with so many enjoyable stories. :')
