戦闘パートとキャラクター性に重点を置いた軍師制覇モード。難易度は、中々シビアで編成や進攻ルートを工夫して、クリアする為のパターンを探すパズルと言った感じ。有名武将を入手する為にステージを特定の条件を満たしてクリアする等、やり込み、収集要素もあり、これだけでも一つのゲームになっていて無印版のクソゲー判定を返上していると思います。シリーズ経験者の間では常識だと思いますが逆にコーエー三國志のパワーアップキット無し版は買わない方が良いです。張飛は相変わらず愛すべきマルキュー。
