If you have a 3DS, I think it'll ask you to connect an ID when you go on Miiverse. I'm not entirely sure, since my dad helped me with most of it a while ago.

Then it's not showing up because you're using two different IDs. Since they're different, they're treated ad two different people's accounts. You won't be able to connect them now.

You could add another user on your Wii U, so that account will be connected. Your main can't be connected now.
