All her classes had been planned out. "Thanks for the ride!" Jade said as she took a few steps of the stairs from her bus. She looked down at her map in hand. "My apartment should be just Eadt of the forest that's here."

    Blake took a seat in front of her, His eyes glowing bright blue. "Hey buddy, what's your name?" His look was a mix of seriousness and curiosity. Zachary was waiting outside for Blake to come out. "What's taking him so long?" Zachary started to stare at the sky out of boredom. Suddenly, a red column of energy formed in the outskirts of the city. "Ok, that's it!"

    Zachary quickly ran inside and interrupted Blake's conversation and told him about what was happening outside. "Blake, we need to go!" Blake stood up as Zachary followed behind him. He saw the column Zachary was talking about and held out his right arm, causing a scythe to form from his palm. "We've gotta' deal with whatever is causing that light." Zachary held onto Blake's arm and disappeared.

"How can such a small thing cause this?" He turned to Zachary, who's eyes were completely fixated on the orb in Blake's hand. He quietly muttered "Blake, give me the soul. Now."

    Jade had just arrived at the apartment building. Her key in hand was inches away from the door lock when the bright red light had filled the sky. She froze, with her head fixated at the "blast". Her mind was racing with thoughts about terrorist attacks and lives of people taken. She decided to slowly walk towards the mysterious orb to investigate the event close-up.

    "Soul?" Blake raised an eyebrow at his friend's statement. "Oh, you mean thi-!?" Zachary swiped the soul out of Blake's hands and crushed it between his palms. Zachary's eyes soon became pitch-black with white pupils. A grin slowly spread across his face. "Your life ends here, Samuel." A black ooze covered his arms, quickly hardening into gauntlets.

    Blake hopped back and held his scythe tightly. "Zach, don't make me do somethin' I'll regret." Zachary slowly tilted his head to the right before laughing maniacally. "The only thing you'll 'regret' is challenging me!" Zachary swung at Blake, sending him into a nearby tree. Blake didn't even get a chance to get up before Zachary grabbed his jacket and pinned him to the tree. (cont.)

    (cont) "Ok pal, you asked for this." Blake suddenly disappeared, quickly reappearing behind Zachary. He swung his scythe, leaving a large wound that was leaking... black blood? Zachary turned around and shouted at Blake. "Now you've made your last MISTAKE!"

    Zachary's wound began sprouting long spikes that formed into bat-like wings and flew into the surrounding night sky. Blake, who was in awe after what happened, fell to the ground. "Welp, That's gonna' hurt in the morning." He reached for his back, but flinched from the pain. He sighed. "Why... Why did Zach act like that?"
