There seems to be a glitch with the furmiliar system where it won't let you make certain pets furmiliars. Weirdly the pet it gives you the option for instead may be one that doesn't meet the minimum heart requirements.

This is the cat I'm trying to make my furmiliar.

Yeah. You can only register the first 5 pets, if I remember correctly. I have/had the same problem and did some research. I just sold some pets I didn't need, then selected my Noodle to be my Furmiliar. Same problem with the StreetPass menu though.

That sucks. Hopefully they'll fix it in the upcoming DLC, I've read that it should include some bug fixes. Ah well, I ended up making Leo my furmiliar, it's my second-favorite herding cat. Tiger I couldn't keep as my furmiliar because it was my material finder and they stop finding stuff if they're furmiliars (herders keep herding if you have a barn in your home area).
