So does anyone have tips on building a good competitive team?

This is for all formates for sun and moon. I tryed making a new team for May challenge but it didnt work out so I used an old team. I mean stuff like building a good core, playstyle and figure out what Pokemon fit your own team. Plz comment bellow. It would really help a lot.

  • @Jordan: I was thinking my focus evolve around Politoad with drizzle with useing rain to my advantage and the rest just a standard team. What you suggest? @HMarshadow: Excatly what you mean by that? Unless you mean not haveing too many of same type and not haveing like a rain team with a fire type. @Hannah: I have used that Pokémon before on a trickroom team.

  • @Hannah Disguise doesn't stop Sunsteel Strike. As for type overlap, that's when you have multiple Pokes on your team with the same type and/or weaknesses. E.g. my team has 3 Steel-types

  • Proably something with Intimidate and then a mon with good speed Kartana and Koko are pretty good speed attackers in my book at least, speed is pretty useful in Doubles

  • What's your team so far?

  • @HMarshadow: Well if you use a weather team though you may have least two Pokémon with same weakness. That's only if you use Pokémon ability instead of the move like sunny day. @Gabe: I am still thinking about that but I don't know I want to use weather as main part. At least for doubes/VGC formate. @Everyone: Do you have suggestions for tiny Tourney? Only 1 meter tall Pokemon and doubles.

  • I have great suggestions for the Tiny Tourney! Here are some good ones that you'll love: Magneton, Alolan Marowak, Meowstic, Pachirisu, Minior, Toxapex, Porygon and all of its evolved forms, Shuckle, Comfey, Mimikyu, Kartana, Torkoal, Sneasel, Chandelure, Alolan Muk, Hippopotas, Excadrill, Spiritomb, Clefairy, Raichu, Aipom, and Gastrodon. There are a lot of choices from this list

  • The first part of team building is learning and or researching the metagame. The metagame is basically pokemon that are commonly used. From there youll want to have a playstyle in mind that you want your team to follow.

  • Style being things like whether you eant an offensive, defensive, balanced, stall team or whatever. From there pick pokemon that youll want to use and base the rest of those pokemon around that pokemons weaknesses and around the teams playstyle

  • @Marq and Anyone: Thanks for the tip. I was thinking standard balanced rain team for VGC doubles formate. I was thinking my Pokémon focus around politoad with drizzle ability. Then for singles I am going to just have a standard balanced team. Not sure what Pokemon to use for that. What you suggest? It would really help plz.

  • You might want ro run some Ground and refrain from using Grass because rain makes you susceptible to perfect accuracy Thunder and perfect accuracy Hurricane

  • @HMarshadow: Hello!! I am thinking eather having Politoad, Pelipper or a support Pokemon that can sets up the rain. Maybe for the core Koko, Garchomp or flygon and Metagross. What you think and what Pokemon you suggest? This team for VGC rules so no mega form. I will make a separate team for normal doubles later on.

  • Peliper isn't good because: A: Politoed already has Drizzle as one of its abilities. B, Thunder susceptibility

  • Um Pelipper has Drizzle as one it's ability now in gen 7. Certain Pokemon got there ability changed like Gengar with Curse body instead of levitate. If you don't believe me just look it up on serebii or PGL. @Everyone: If you have suggestions plz tell me? It would help.

  • Yes I know that but it has a 4x weakness and you don't need two Pokemob with the same ability

  • Well of corse I know that. I was telling you information that's all. Is it better to have a Pokémon politoad with drizzle or Clefki which can learn move rain dance? I am only saying that so I don't have to have two water type Pokemon on one team and pluse I could hide that I have Weather.

  • I suggest you rin Klefki. Politoed can't survive a Thunder
