Do you guys think it's a good idea to rerelease Wii U games on the Switch? Personally, I just want to see new stuff, and if I wanted to play those games, I'd play them on their original platform.

  • I don't think it's a good idea, honestly - it's almost like they wanted to have these extra features in the original games but didn't put them in for whatever reason. And if that's not it, that's what it comes off as.

  • Actually it's good BUSINESS decision on Nintendo's part since the Wii U didn't sell well so... think about the people who own a Switch yet, not a Wii U compared to the people who owned both...

  • only if it's smash brothers

  • I think it's necessary. Not a whole lot of people bought the wiiu so rereleasing the games on switch could catch their attention again. Plus who wouldn't want to play their favorite games on the go?

  • Exactamundo. We want new games, rereleases aren't necessary for a multitude of reasons, they take the place of fresh content, boring and unimaginative, plus it's just too soon. The good things about this is that you can play them on the go, and they've got a little more content, but that's not much. I hope Pokken DX was the last rerelease for a while, but something tells me it won't be,

  • Oops, didn't see the next three comments. I sort of see that point about the Wii U falling under the radar, but even still, if anyone wanted to play those games, they could still just buy a Wii U. Most people probably won't go out of their way for one, though...okay, so it's not the worst business decision, but still, I'm not sold.

  • It's a good business decision, putting the best selling games from a floundering console onto a more successful one so that they can reach the a better audience (and sales). It's also good for people who didn't buy a Wii U. But just because it's a smart move, doesn't mean I have to like it, and as someone who bought the Wii U, I'd much prefer Nintendo focus on developing new games.

  • Still, why not make a sequel instead of a rerelease? Could you imagine Mario Kart 8 being on every future console Nintendo will ever release (if they even can make another one)? I was hoping for Mario Kart 9 or Pokken Twournament or something. We're getting rereleases of games from many years ago through the Virtual Console, and that's how these should be handled. Imagine MK8 being called "retro".

  • I agree with the virtual console part, they should focus on making new games and porting old games instead of adding to old games. It just comes off wrong otherwise. They should save the creativity for new games or their creativity will be less for the new games.
