I just realized something. In Pokémon Black and White, we got the two main legendaries, Zekrom and Reshiram. And then Kyurem was just sorta there. All of which were also from the same base. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, once again, we got Solgaleo and Lunala (both of which from the same base), but then we got Necrozma. Who was also just sorta there. Then B/W got sequels.     They've done that trope since Raquaza, as far as "third legendaries that are just sorta there." Then they usually release a third game/pair with a twist. Did it with Emerald, Platinum, and B/W2. Frankly, by that metric, we're overdue for a Zekrom stand-alone.

    @Γг Boy*, thanks though. @Aizen Then Zygarde was also just sorta there in XY, but that wasn't the main point. I was alluding more to the fusion aspect, rather then the third wheel having hidden potential.

    Also, I honestly was expecting X2 and Y2 when Zygarde 100% was first leaked.

    A lot of people were expecting Pokemon Z, but I didn't really see a good way to incorporate it and there wasn't really a reason to split to justify X2/Y2.
