Nintendo stopped releasing games for it after BOTW. So in Nintendo's eyes, it's not.

A console isn't dead or not relevant unless everyone loses their console and nobody has it anymore and nobody plays with it. So every Nintendo console won't be forgotten or abandoned as long as somebody has it. So the Gamecube and Wii aren't dead yet for me because i still have them.

We still can access the internet and use Miiverse so it's still relevant plus Splatoon and Smash 4 is still popular online.

Almost every time a new console comes out, people would abandon their old console to get their hands on the new one. Ex: Me getting rid of my Xbox 360 for the One. Not very many people I know still play the Wii U since they're playing the Switch. It amazes me every time knowing that people still play old consoles.
