She could tell Nate was all-that and a bag of potato chips, so she wouldn't be surprised if he had some kind of superhuman hearing. She begins crying. The song meant something, something important to her. (Yes, I love Clannad)

    Natasha shakes her head, and wipes the tears off of her face. In an instant, what seemed to be a bit of light, faded away. She knew she had messed up. It's not her fault that she thought that Nate was bothering Calamity. And with that, she bumps into Violet. Three potential friends, gone. All she wanted was friends. Of course, "The Great, Nate" is going to appear, and steal her heart.
