    Heroic quests get you a lot of apples. Go back to old missions and clear some with your new gear!

    Then play another game for a while. Log onto this one once or twice a day to harvest apples til you've got enough. It's that or pay a few bucks. No shame in buying a few apples if you're having fun with the game.
