    The game is not very well-designed. It all comes down more to the gear you have, rather than any skill - and they further gate this through how difficult it is to get gem apples. You will want to invest in Beam Mage stuff, and primarily use them. Time stop helps you nab platinum medals like nothing else.

    I think Beam Mage and Doctor Healmore are THE most important, so i always upgrade their weaponary and armor before the others.

    What you want to aim for and save up to is level 6 Beam Mage equipment, and then to upgrade them to Deluxe. You can beat the whole game with 6DX gear, though there will be a few rough spots.
