either I'm incredibly daft or this game is incredibly terrible at explaining what you're supposed to do! Giant monsters seem to give you hints but you end up button mashing 'til some cutscene triggers

  • It's definitely not the friendliest game out there, that's for sure. I'm not far enough in to tell how good/bad that is.

  • Basics: some attacks can be countered (charges), others must be dodged. For both you have to buy abilities very early on. Team attacks will usually make an enemy busy with single members clinging on.

  • You'll get an audio clue when this happens. Then you can go in with a Morph attack to deal as much damage as possible. You can use multi morph attacks or combos. Just don't take too long.

  • During the game you learn/buy more abilities to pull off more powerful combos/attacks. Most notably one that lets you juggle a weakened enemy. But needless to say that there will be tougher oppenents.

  • Many of them can't be beaten by the standard recipe, so you'll constantly face challenges on how to beat a specific type of opponent including bosses. But for me, this is a good part of the fun!

  • I liked how it doesn't really hold your hand. You have to figure stuff out on your own and I love that. Just keep your eyes peeled, you'll pick it up soon enough.

  • The game sort of reminds me of Monster Hunter in the way it doesn't explain things. Still think it would need more of MH's logic to the battles. Often, you're just not sure why you succeed in W101.
