I find his most common spell is Thunder, if you've beaten Mephilia get Summoner up to level 2 for Abate Lightning. If he charms you get your physically weakest character to attack them, or use Esuna.

Having a Ranger job helps a lot too, it can be very powerful at first, I'd still use Ranger if not for needing to level other jobs.
