  • It's made by Square Enix, what did you expect! It's only cliché because it's a staple of their RPGs. And it's hardly lazy, the art direction is magnificent!

  • Well, the "simple farmboy" hasn't been used in a long time. At least in Final Fantasy... We had warriors, orphans, knights, random guy, an Esper, two trained soldiers, a circus guy and a sports guy...

  • And that's only FF1-10... ;) That was the last one I've played. But I rather have a "normal" person than an over the top "gifted" one as the main character...

  • The basic premise may be done to death, but the rest of the game still could not be called lazy by any and all accounts. Just the sheer ammount of scripted voice acting is staggering.

  • I just think it's too bad that square sits in it's comfort zone. I'd like to see a new, fresh setting, with new, fresh characters.

  • Yeah, that's true... Ir's either medieval with kings, queens, castles and dragons or futuristic with spaceships or other too modern tech... or both if you think of StarOcean ;)
