    I used Peach mainly, had two Tanooki suits saved in the power-up thing which I would keep for the 'really hairy' bits towards the end so I could float a bit more/have at least an extra hit.

    It can be done without power-ups, but its a little easier with some help. And with multiple characters to be done, that is nice! Its just a really tough level, keep at it & you'll get it. Good luck!

    Ok, thanks for your help, i have played as peach with a cat suit saved. Will try with tanooki. Have gotten as far as the 2nd star. Can you have 2 power ups saved?

    Ok, thougth so, but had to ask :) I have tried to have another character in a bubble,but it' just annoying, so i try with just one. a million thanks for the help,now off to try for the 400th time.. :)
