I'm new to Fire Emblem, One of my troops has just been killed early game. Do I restart the map or is it not that big a deal?

    Depends what character but really you shoudn't be too worried as you will gain many characters as the game progresses. If it is Frederick who had died I would restart as he is powerful and was indispensible in the late game. If it is just a farmer or a weak mage then don't bother.

    Are you playing on Casual or Classic mode? If you're losing female unit, that also mean losing their future child unit per se.

    I'm playing on classic mode. I lost virion the archer. maybe for the sake of 20 mins work I should restart the map.

    The FE purists always restart whenever they lose anyone. That's the way I roll - the game's kind of easy if you allow yourself sacrifice units - and way too easy (outside of Lunatic and Lunatic+ of course) in Newcomer.
