    Could be a sprite error where an unfinished image made it into the final build, or a special sprite for just this scene meant to represent fear with blank eyes, reflective of how pupil size changes for focal clarity while you're running on adrenaline. The second option may be bad science on my part. please double check with somebody else, who didn't drop out of college biology.

    I've seen that eye design too many times to not know what it represents. Every time I've seen them it's either to show that they're scared or shocked, or on occasion to show hollowness and/or Emptiness... *reads again* What did I just type??
