did you have to change the motion control to pad i certainly did
05/09/2015 4:22 AM ·Spoilers
Love the art! That hour definitely went by way to fast! I can tell already that I'll sink hundreds of hours into this awesome game!
05/09/2015 4:26 AM ·Spoilers
If I may chime in. I turned them off as soon as the tutorial was over. They work, but I'm no fan of motion controls!
05/09/2015 4:30 AM ·Spoilers
I'm going to next time Mark. You press the + button when selecting weapons, is that right? @Brick.thank you! Totally agree with you, it's going to be this and nothing else for me after release. There's a lot to get through, and you can see the game will have depth. Yes, the rollers dominate at the moment, but that won't last. Playing with friends and working out what weapons everyone will use
05/09/2015 4:33 AM ·Spoilers
be better when you can upgrade that roller did seem a bit overpowered, yes just press + and change it in the options major improvement, loved the minigame while you waited for other players
05/09/2015 4:43 AM ·Spoilers
It will be an important role for someone to take out whoever has the roller(s), probably a sniper. I can see it being balanced once teams work out a strategy. Thank you Mark, I'll have a go with gyro controls turned off. I'm sure I'll prefer it.
05/09/2015 4:44 AM ·Spoilers
Yeah there's an option to turn off motion controls thankfully. I agree that the roller may seem over powered, but the other weapons and perks will probably balance that out. If everyone has high powered weapons I think we'll feel like a sitting duck with that roller. This game has had a lot of thought put into it you can just tell!
05/09/2015 4:45 AM ·Spoilers
It will be interesting to see if the online works as smoothly at lunchtime, otherwise I'll be playing at 4AM ever day.
05/09/2015 4:46 AM ·Spoilers
and im sure it will suprise us some more when released, think mario kart might be having a well earned rest after the 29th
05/09/2015 4:50 AM ·Spoilers
Maybe because of all the shooters I've played in the past, but it felt perfect using both sticks! I played the entire hour tonight and only lost 3 rounds. Most fun I've had in a long while! I like how their holding off on team building till August. Gives everyone a chance to get good strategies down first. So far I like everything about it!
05/09/2015 4:53 AM ·Spoilers
I managed quite well without the roller, by getting up high and covering ground from there, whist taking out the roller as soon as it showed up. A team of four rollers might be a different story. I'm sure the best teams will end up having a mix. Yes, Mario Karts is going to have to take a back seat.
05/09/2015 4:59 AM ·Spoilers
Totally agree Jonathan! The level of strategy seems really high, and I most definitely need a break from Mario Kart! I took the high ground a few times and I did feel an edge shooting down on the play field. I didn't feel defenseless with the roller either. 2hrs till I can play again, then the painful wait till the 29th.
05/09/2015 5:03 AM ·Spoilers
Peter, you don't want to go into battle without inking! I wonder how many ink puns have been used so far? Too many probably. It's no longer a laughing matter, Peter; you have to have the the right trainers on and everything! You should have got out of bed.
05/09/2015 5:04 AM ·Spoilers
@Mark- Nice to meet you! It looked like there was going to be a handful of those retro style mini games as well. I watched a bunch of play on the single player campaign and it looks really great! Interesting ways of traversing the levels! Hope you all have a great day!
05/09/2015 5:05 AM ·Spoilers
If you can get in round the back of opponents, it's often left defenceless. That will change.
05/09/2015 5:22 AM ·Spoilers
Every time Thank you for your sy mpathy!!one's first experience to mark with an English! Do you have a match in this? Tanaka Corpus!!
05/09/2015 6:25 AM ·Spoilers
nice to meet you brick cant wait til its out and we can all get together, going to be a lot of fun.only nintendo could make a shooter family friendly
05/09/2015 6:35 AM ·Spoilers
They've done just that. Not really had a chance to play a shooter with my eight year old until now.
05/09/2015 6:42 AM ·Spoilers
yes mine are 6 and 7 and looking forward to playing it just got to get a procontroller for thm
05/09/2015 6:47 AM ·Spoilers
My daughter likes the pro controller, she finds it easier to hold. Plus, if they drop it, it's not a total disaster.
05/09/2015 8:06 AM ·Spoilers
another good hour spent with splatoon my 2 kids loved it,joypad being passed around a lot.few more server issues this time looks like ill be joining you at 4am lol
05/09/2015 8:36 AM ·Spoilers
@Mark. Yes, got cut off twice, but was back on quick. I doubt it will ever get any busier then today's limited time slots. When I was playing, there was no lag. My daughter's at a Birthday party, and is going crazy because she's missed two opportunities to play it now.
05/09/2015 8:39 AM ·Spoilers
That's for sure, Oyechka. I think having tried both sets of controls, I strangely prefer the motion. I thought it would take larger movements to aim, but it's quite subtle.
05/09/2015 11:13 AM ·Spoilers
I'm also looking forward to this game. Great drawing by the way Jonathan :)
05/09/2015 1:17 PM ·Spoilers
It's a long three weeks now Scott. I wanted to play the third hour tonight, but the wife is having none of it. She said I should paint the house instead of messing about with fish! 'Fish'??? They're clearly squidlings!
05/10/2015 6:21 AM ·Spoilers
Awesome artwork Jonathan! :D There seems to be a lot of hype for this game right now. :)
05/10/2015 7:45 AM ·Spoilers
Hi Manda, how are you? Did you give Splatoon a try, or are you frightened you have too many games on the go already? I think it's probably the sort of game you have to give yourself over to for a long while. I don't want to be facing squid with smarter looking outfits then mine! Lol
05/10/2015 10:52 AM ·Spoilers
Hi Jonathan, I'm fine thank you, how are you? :) No I haven't tried Splatoon, it's only available for Wii U isn't it? I only have 3DS. But yeah, I was going to get Puzzles and Dragons, but I think I'll hold off for a bit as I have so many games to play right now, lol!
05/10/2015 12:28 PM ·Spoilers
I'm good thank you Manda. Have you ever been tempted to buy a Wii U, or is there not enough of your types of games to make it worthwhile? What if they brought out an Amimal crossing for Wii U? The Mario Kart track shows how good it would look. I'm not sure it will happen now. I've been playing Affordable space Adventures, it's excellent, and one of the best uses of the gamepad. Puzzle & Dragons Z
05/10/2015 1:42 PM ·Spoilers
Haha, you're not the first person to ask me this question Jonathan. :) To be honest, I don't really know much about the selection of games on the Wii U, and I don't really understand the advantage of it over the original Wii. I still own a Wii which I still love to play. The main things that would appeal to me about a Wii U is Art Academy, and Mario Party 10. But there's also a factor or cost &...
05/10/2015 1:45 PM ·Spoilers
...how much I'd get to play it, as I have so many 3DS games to play. I would'nt want to buy one and it just gathers dust. I would'nt say I'd never get one, I'm just happy with all my 3DS stuff right now. I hear it is good for Miiverse though. I guess I'm still confused at the whole concept of the console too, but I'm happy to hear more about it. :)
05/10/2015 8:22 PM ·Spoilers
It seems you're not the only one that's confused about the Wii U, and I guess that's been the problem it's had from the start. I don't have the time to play the games I already have, so I've never really felt the game shortage. Miiverse, and now Art Academy has made it one of my favourite consoles of all time, but then I liked the gamecube, so I probably don't no what I'm talking about. Lol
05/10/2015 8:31 PM ·Spoilers
I know it's made me more of a Nintendo Fan, but playing games with my daughter, and seeing things anew through her eyes, has probably made it a far greater experience for me then it might have been. I know I wouldn't have come on Miiverse unless she had asked me to, and I wouldn't have drawn any pictures without her asking, so yes, I'm very enthusiastic about it, and Amiibo's, and all sorts of...
05/10/2015 11:28 PM ·Spoilers
You might not like shooters much, but you must like the squidlings, CJ? I've got my Amiibo's ordered!
05/11/2015 3:36 AM ·Spoilers
@Manda- The advantages over the wii.. well there's alot. They should have named it something else. I mean it's a generation ahead of wii. Like comparing N64 to Gamecube. Plus Wii-U can play all wii games. Way more powerful. Gamepad=awesome! Miiverse runs so much better! No errors are reloads ever! Gamepad has motion controls, camera, microphone, touch controls, amiibo support. You can wii chat →
05/11/2015 3:42 AM ·Spoilers
which is basically like skype. Friend list so anyone you friend you can have private conversation with no administration! anything goes! There's plenty of awesome games considering you got wii-u games, wii, all the virtual console games, nes, super nes,Ds, some N64 hopefully gamecube soon. All the indie titles. It's better in every single way compared to wii. There's alot I didn't mention here. I know

your already swamped with 3DS games. Was just bored and felt like throwing some info your way. Definitely a system worth considering in the future especially with the Zelda U coming and I believe a new animal crossing possibly. Hope your doing ok! :))
05/11/2015 4:18 AM ·Spoilers
As for wii-u games: Super Mario World 3D Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze Hyrule Warriors Mario Kart 8 Nintendoland Splatoon New Kirby Yoshi's Wolly World New Super Mario bro's U and Luigi U dlc Mario Party 10 New Zelda 2016 New Starfox Rayman Legends New Xenoblade Toad Treasure Trackers,Super Smash bro's.Well there's a few. Many more and more to come!
05/11/2015 4:40 AM ·Spoilers
@Manda-Until I got my Wii-U I was only playing my 3DS. Now I mainly only play Wii-U! I still play 3ds,but alot less. I reread your comment the part about worrying the wii-u would collect dust. It's probably your 3DS that would collect the dust! I never played a game online till wii-u! I love it! It really keeps some games alive much longer.Sorry about going info overload. Just trying to be helpful
05/11/2015 4:50 AM ·Spoilers
@Manda-Also I know money can be an issue. I had to save slowly for the better part of a year! No regrets though. Plus by waiting there's a ton of games alot which you can pick up much cheaper now. Hope some of the info helps a little. Super late here 5 am! Time for sleep. Hope you have a great day! :))
05/11/2015 6:10 AM ·Spoilers
Wow, what Rick said! That's what you need to know. I think anyone that actually gets to play on one understands the appeal, and see's how it works. It's been very frustrating to watch it struggle, and it makes owners very passionate about it. All the games Rick mentioned are great, and I think Pikmin might appeal too. The Wii U easily had the best version of Rayman, and....Oh you get it, we like..
05/11/2015 6:24 AM ·Spoilers
@ Jonathan, I'm loving that picture you drew! Hehe! :D Thanks for sharing your experience with me about the console. I think you're right, there was very little information about the concept of the console and it's advantages over the original Wii when it was released, and since then I've still not really got it, if you get me? Like, I still don't understand what the gamepad is used for, and how..
05/11/2015 6:28 AM ·Spoilers
...it connects to the tv in gameplay? I remember the adverts on the tele for the Wii U, but I didn't find it really explained how it's meant to be used, or why you would get one of those over a Wii. I don't know if other people experienced that too. Obviously now, people would get one for it's newer technology & vast selection of games. I just never really looked into it properly I guess. I'm...
05/11/2015 6:32 AM ·Spoilers
...pleased it has been such a positive experience for you, I can understand why from everything you've said. :) Another thing I don't understand is amiibo's. I mean, I know what they do, but I feel like it's over complicated gameplay? I miss the days where you turn on a game & you just play, with no extras. I do understand that they can enhance gameplay. Maybe I'd get it more if I had & used them?
05/11/2015 6:36 AM ·Spoilers
@ Brick, thanks so much to you as well for sharing all your experiences with the console and giving me information about it. :)The one thing that would really appeal to me about Wii U is MV. My AF never loads on my 3DS, and it constantly crashes! Most of the time I use MV on the PC as it's a lot better and I can yeah posts in a new tab whilst waiting for the 2 min rule to comment. ;) I have seen..
05/11/2015 6:39 AM ·Spoilers
...the loading time for MV on the Wii U, and it's fast! I also like that you can PM without worrying about anything. Thanks for the list of Wii U games. I think I would like the Yoshi's Woolly World game, and Mario Maker, probably Mario Kart 8 as well for social gaming as I have the original Mario Kart on the Wii. The others I know very little about, but I do love VC games, so that would..........
05/11/2015 6:42 AM ·Spoilers
Well, I'll start with Amiibo's and say we collect them to put on the shelf. If they unlock a little bonus in games, like extra costumes in MK8, that's a bonus great. They are not essential to most games, although Mario party did have a whole section locked away by them. This was game boards, and a way to play the game that was more like older versions of the game. So that was not so good.
