Weekend Meowth is nearly here! Remember: To maximise your coins, the best team is Mewtwo, Espeon and the Meowstics. Buy +5 turns, ignore the coins and play for 3+ combos to get more coins to spawn! On the last turn, go for the coins though.

    No Mewtwo? No problem! There is an alternative: Banette, Chandelure, Lampent, Haunter/Yamask. Option 3: Gengar and any combination of Mega Boost Ghosts and Quirky(+) Pokémon. This is not as good, though. Best of luck!

    I was quite unlucky today. 4700 coins... I had a really bad board, and finding 3+ combos was very difficult. My record is 8200. But even 4700 is better than going in with no strategy and getting just a few hundred!

    i got 5300 which is better then usual for me. mega boost activated more then usual but inaccidently made a couple of coin swaps but ine was a 500 one...

    My team: Banette, Chandelure, Haunter, Yamask. I also use a moves +5 and a mega start. I don't like using Mewtwo because its ability is swap. The mega boost means you get about 50% more coins than otherwise, because it can take several moves to mega evolve. I used this team today and had a bad board (very few large matchups), but still got 7300 coins.

    Mega Start isn't worth it on average because you get 5000-8000 usually without it. So we worked out that you do no better on average, and 2000 coins is hard to make back. Mewtwo evolves quicker than Banette. The self-boost does not overcome that difference, as several people have tested it both ways. On GameFAQs there are Weekend Meowth results topics every week, so we had a pretty good idea of

    the averages with each team. With Mewtwo, you lead with the Mega Booster and go for double matches with Mewtwo. By doing this you get the Mega Boost chance as well as not triggering the Swap. I'd usually find Banette took 2 more turns to evolve on average.

    Banette: 27 icons. Mewtwo: 23 icons. If you trigger Banette's self boost twice he'd be quicker, but bringing other Mega Boosters cancels out that advantage. Since you're playing for combos, you'll likely be matching one of the others so will still get Mega Boosts. So Mewtwo is still better. We weren't certain until we tested them both though, and got much better averages and evolution speeds withM

    UPDATE: I've just seen another result from "Me!!!". 10,900 coins with the Mewtwo & Mega Boosters team and +5 turns. No Mega Start. That's the THIRD result over 10k I've seen today, all using the same setup. This guy said Mewtwo evolved on the third turn. The evidence is overwhelming; non-Mega Start Mewtwo is best for Weekend Meowth by a long way.

    Mega Start isn't worth it. There aren't as many coins at the start and Mewtwo evolved in 3 turns for me today. But were you taking your time looking for combos? There's not much more I can suggest.

    I think you were probably just unlucky. As long as you lead the match with a Mega Booster and play for as many combos as possible you should do fine. I'm sure next week will be better! I hope so for myself, too, since I messed up a bit and only managed 4900.

    Similar thing happened to me today. No combo potential at all, and mega boost only activated once. It resulted in 4200 coins, less than I normally make. I hope we all have better luck next week!
