Some of the levels of the Cresscelia stage contain coins on the board. The first one is level 35, the one shown in the screenshot. It might be good to change your pokemon team on these specific levels during the the Cresselia stage to focus on combos(to spawn more coins) to get a better coin reward. See comments how this turns out for me.

As I've seen on some sites, these levels are 35, 55, 75, 95, 120, 140, 160 & 180. They're all the same, and Cresselia makes a coin or two appear at every turn. This is not like Meowth's special stage, where you have to make combos in order to make coins appear, so the strategy here is a bit different but, of course, in the end you have to defeat Cresselia. Hope it helps! ;)

So it is not based on combos. I also did not know that goes higher than 100. How high does it go? 200? 256?

It seems that levels 100 & 200 bring up another two Mega Speedups (one each). There'll be level 201 and beyond, but I assume level 201 will be difficult enough, and it would require so many coins to get past through that. So... I guess the realistic end will be 200. :)

Giratina was way more difficult than Cresselia, and it had another Mega Speedup at level 100 too. I managed to get it, but just because I had 99k coins in the beginning, I used them ALL to get to level 89, and then I had to grind them back to finish levels 90-100. I hope Cresselia doesn't get that hard... :P
