So apparently my character likes Lucina and vice versa. Wonder what Chrom would say to that, seeing as were like brothers.

I suppose not. Having had it for just over a year, I guess its easy for me. And with it being my first proper FE game too, only played a little bit of one other.

Awakening's a good induction. It gives you everything you need to play it and various supporting assets as well. AND It can be played in a traditional format.

Allow me to informate. Awakening is the 13th entry in the Fire Emblem franchise. 7 Fire Emblem titles have not made it outside of Japan for a legitimate release. Games 1-6 and 12 were Japan-exclusive titles. Games 1-5 were all on the Super Famicom (Japanese SNES), games 6-8 were all on GBA, game 9 was on the Gamecube, game 10 was on the Wii and games 11 and 12 were on the DS.

The DS ones would probably be the easiest for me to get, I'll have to keep an eye out for them. Might be able to find the Wii one too. Gonna have to check out the local shops now.

Strange that they didn't release all of them outside Japan. Probably wanting to keep the best for themselves.

No. 1-5 were kept in Japan because they didn't think the franchise'd be very popular outside of Japan, 6 was in development during the production of Super Smash Bros. Melee in which Masahiro Sakurai had put Marth and Roy into the game for the Japanese version. When the game was localized in the west, the developers didn't want players to miss-out on perfectly fine characters so they left them in.

The result of those two characters being left in was so phenomenal that players in the west started demanding Fire Emblem to be localized and by FE7, we got that. However, the games weren't as popular as could be and FE's developers began a slow decline in funding which is part of the reason that FE12 never made it outside of Japan if I'm not mistaken.

By the time Awakening came around they went with an 'all-or-nothing' plan and also put in features that were introduced in FE12 such as a customizable Avatar. Since 12 never made it outside of Japan. Awakening's sales were astronomical by comparison to most other FE titles and as such, we've got the 14th entry out in Japan on June 25th 2015 and in western territories in 2016.

Fair enough, I suppose. But I would still like to play them, maybe one day we'll get them on the eshop or something. At least I can get the ones that are available here.

It IS possible to download them with Translation patches that fans have made but the reliability of this method is a little over-the-place.

You can probably get a decent version of them by going to Serenes Forest. It's a Fire Emblem resource that loves delivering translations and other useful information. I'd recommend looking there.

*randomly butts in* If you have a Wii U, you can get the original (I think) Fire Emblem and Sacred Stones on the GBA Virtual Console.
