    Frederick works for that too. He also has the advantage of being able to one-shot the Mages with Silver, but of course, you don't want too give him too much XP. (Vaike could potentially pull that off as well but probably with shakier hit rates)

    I don't know if you want to rely on ~33% chances (without support). Anyway, Str tonics are buyable and Kellam gives +3 and Fred +4 Str, which will help you to hit thresholds. However, I think we're making too much of a deal out of this chapter. It's not hard if you play smart.

    With 3 people around Miriel, she'll get to +10 Crit avoid, which should be enough to be safe. Even if it isn't, the cumulative chances of a crit are probably very low.
