Matt, you are really great as always. :) So Mega Gengar really helps with making combos when you use Disruption Delay and Complexity -1? When I use M-G without items I do worse scores. I want Mega Speedup, so I need to be better this time.

Thanks! Yeah, because he evolves really quickly then removes himself from the board for a while, leaving only 3 pokes. This makes it easier to keep the combo going.

I know how this mega works, but it not always makes huge difference with 4 Pokémon on stage. It's not 3 Pokémon stage where M-Gengar is always the most usefull.

I think of it as a safety net. If you fail to make a match in time to keep the combo going, the fact there are only 3 means there's more chance of a natural combo. But by all means, if you think you can keep the combo going for the whole minute with a full Ground team, go for it! I think it'll be harder to pull off, though. Mareep does get in the way, just like all Junkémons have in previous ones.

Here is my first try with items. Not bad for me but I think I can do better. I still have a lot of coins left so I can try again later. This time there is good reason to to get good score. I might even try without mega just for fun. But I think that score is definitely enough for manectite.

You should be fine with that score as a lot of players can't grind Meowth to save their life, meaning a lot of players won't be doing item runs.

I hope so. I just tried without mega with all items and I must say that it was not good idea. I got a lot worse score. It was more difficult than I though. Well I still have 55000 coins left, so I don't need to worry about that.

I see... Yeah, it'd only be better if you were lightning quick and never dropped the combo, as before v1.2 the Top 5 usually didn't use a Mega. The effect takes time, which stops other pokes falling, but since home buffering no longer works I think it's a bad idea unless you have amazing reflexes.

Ok, I did all item run with Mega Gengar and it really helps! More than I though it can. But my score is not good (my stupid reflex :(), I never be able to do never-ending combos.

There's always Absol if you need practice. It has no disruptions. However, there is a fifth poke (Umbreon). Go in with a weak team to last the whole minute if you want. I found it was the best way to practise without spending coins.

Yeah, it's one reason I'm glad I have a couple of old 3DSes so I can waste hearts practising things. But they're only at Level 13 (enough to unlock Experts and Specials). So no chance of placing in a contest!

You'll be fine I think. As I said before, most players can't grind Meowth and a lot are pretty bad at timed levels. A full item run usually gets decent players well inside the top 3,000.
