The normal stage generally take at least one fighting type so you don't defeat it too fast. Other three slots can be anything, technically you could grind levels for them. The special stage that happens at the weekend, you have many choices: 1. Mega Mewtwo Y, both Meowstics and Espeon. 2. Mega Banette, other ghost that help boost mega gauge.

3. Pokemon that has the ability quirky that removes extra Pokemon after matching. Most go with option 1 or 3, can really only do option 2 if you won a Banetite stone from the last competition. Hope that helps. :)
