I'm sure some of you already noticed, but naturally most of you don't know that, so I have to say: Tharja is my favourite character. That's why I'm überhappy about Nyx, a new character in FE: If, since she resembles Tharja so much - she even has the same class - and hopefully will have a similar personality as well. When I noticed that resemblance yesterday, when I saw her battlefield sprite on a↓

  • screenshot, I almost had a heart attack. She was even in the same team as Camilla so she'll be a Nohr character and I love Nohr! I think my hope for her personality to be similar to Tharja's is likely to be satisfied considering her name. Nyx is also one of my favourite characters from greek mythology.

  • About the personality, you shouldn't get your hopes too high up. Tharja and Nyx already bear many resemblances, making the personality similar would create the same character like in Awakening. That's probably too repetetive for IS. Also, she isn't necessarily from Nohr. She could be from Hoshido (admittedly, that's not likely) and accompany you on both routes.

  • Even if she doesn't actually originate from Nohr, I'm happy as long as she fights on Nohr's side; that's what I was trying to say actually. Anyway I'm still pretty confident about her personality since she's a dark mage called Nyx, I can't imagine a character like this to have a personality much different from Tharja's; I think that could be a marketing measurement since Tharja was so popular.

  • Yeah, there's a chance that Tharja founded a new archetype in the series. Like you said most players (and even the developers) liked her a lot. If she didn't then Nyx won't be like Tharja, though. Don't read too much into the names, there are two characters called Cain and Abel in Marth's game and they didn't end up like their myth counterparts at all.

  • Yes, you're right, but in Nyx's case it's still likely since her name is etymologically connected to words with the same meaning in most european languages and because we hear those words everyday their meaning is engraved into our minds. Thus we subconciously connect it to the vibe the night has about it, which makes it a bad idea to give such names to characters with personalities not fitting it
