    Firstly, you need to buy items for Mega Gengar. I bought Moves +5, Mega Start and Disrupt Delay. Secondly, I had a heck of a time trying to catch Xerneas without items, whenever I defeated it I only had 1 or 2 seconds left. So, I just bought a Mega Start and miraculously had 16 seconds remaining so try that. Finally, if you don't know where to get lots of coins except the weekend Meowth...

    ...(although it's only on Sundays now) go to Stage 37 (Meowth) and match the coins before defeating it. It may not look like much in the beginning but as you keep doing it you shall see the results. I hope that's helpful enough
