    I'm going to save it incase another mega boost ghost-type appears, because mewtwo's ability is swap (or something like that).

    Yeah, true, but as long as you lead with a different poke you won't trigger it. Mewtwo evolves faster - 23 icons vs 27. It does make a difference. I've tested them both.

    im debating between mewtwo or ampharos. imalways seem to manage mewtwo quicker then ampharos

    Ampharos takes 24 icons to evolve. That makes him the second slowest after Banette. The list is on GameFAQs, search the board for evolution.
