    It might be an unstable internet connection that stops you. I'm not going to claim that's the reason, but it might be.

    Imagine that the router(the WiFi-thingy) is holding hands with you Wii U to let you go on the internet. If the connection is unstable the router sometimes lets go and grabs the Wii U. That might stop you from playing online. Now I'm not sure this is your problem, but an unstable connection is the first thing that comes to mind. Someone good with WiFi should try to help you irl
